The role

As an Information Security Analyst, you will deliver day‑to‑day cyber security operations to protect the organisation’s systems, data, and users. You will support effective detection, response, and remediation of cyber security threats in alignment with NSW Government cyber security policies, standards, and best practice frameworks.

You’ll work closely with the Security Operations Centre (SOC), ICT teams, and key stakeholders to uplift security maturity, enhance operational capability, and ensure the organisation maintains a strong and resilient security posture.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day cyber security operations, including vulnerability identification, prioritisation, remediation, and verification using security platforms like MS Defender and/or Crowdstrike.
  • Work closely with the Security Operations Centre (SOC) to support cyber threat detection, investigation, and response activities.
  • Provide operational support for the deployment, uplift, administration, and ongoing maintenance of cyber security tools and capabilities.
  • Support cyber incident response activities, including triage, containment, recovery, and post-incident improvement actions.
  • Assist cyber governance, risk, and compliance functions by providing operational evidence for audits, attestations, and reporting.
  • Act as a key liaison between cyber security, network and infrastructure teams, service desk, and Microsoft 365 administrators.
  • Support secure endpoint and SOE management from a cyber security perspective, including device hardening and security baseline enforcement.

About You

You are a collaborative, detail‑oriented cyber security professional with strong technical capability and a proactive mindset. You bring sound judgement, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively across diverse technical teams.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in cyber security operations, including SOC, cyber defence, or incident response environments.

Desirable

  • Industry‑recognised certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.
  • Experience working within NSW Government or large, complex enterprise ICT environments.
