Join the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) and play a critical role in managing and protecting the data that drives decisions for a sustainable future. Our work supports climate action, clean energy, water management, and environmental conservation—and we need skilled professionals to make it happen.
As Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, you’ll provide expert guidance, translating complex data into actionable insights and ensuring data is accessible, accurate, and impactful. In this position you will be at the centre of our new hub and spoke data and analytics operating model and develop ways of working that will be implemented across the department.
A key part of the role involves gathering and translating business requirements - working closely with executives, operational stakeholders at all levels to understand their needs and deliver tailored BI solutions.
You will champion best practice in analytics and visualisation, helping to shape how business intelligence is used across DCCEEW.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance interactive dashboards and reports using enterprise BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
- Gather, analyse, and translate business requirements into effective BI solutions
- Collect, process, and analyse data from diverse sources, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Collaborate with data analysts, business units, and executive stakeholders to deliver expert advice and tailored solutions
- Provide training and ongoing support to uplift data literacy and visualisation capability
- Monitor and improve BI solutions, incorporating user feedback and best practices
- Promote analytics and visualisation in strategic and operational decision making
- Identify trends, patterns, and insights to inform business improvements and policy development
About You:
Skilled at translating business needs into actionable insights, you excel at creating impactful dashboards and reports, engaging with stakeholders to define requirements, and making complex data accessible for informed decision making. You proactively share knowledge, foster data literacy, and set best practice standards in business intelligence.
