  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $109,102 pa to $120,542 pa + super


Our Nature & Natural Capital Strategy team is seeking a motivated and intellectually curious Policy Officer who enjoys tackling complex issues and wants to make a real difference for nature conservation outcomes across NSW. Sitting within the Strategic Policy, Science and Engagement (SPSE) Group, this role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of strategic policy, science and stakeholder engagement, contributing to whole-of-government coordination and shaping how the NSW Government responds to environmental challenges.

As a Policy Officer, you will support the development and delivery of high-profile policy projects aligned with the Minister’s responsibilities under the Biodiversity Conservation Act and the NSW Government’s commitments under the NSW Plan for Nature. You will also help prepare high-level policy advice and initiatives and play a key role in delivering a major policy reform, the NSW Nature Strategy, working collaboratively across government to drive meaningful, long-term outcomes for nature.

About You
You are a strategic thinker who can analyse evidence and translate complex information into clear, practical policy advice. You bring strong research and analytical skills, with the capability to contribute to policy, legislative and regulatory reform in a fast-paced environment.

You are comfortable working across teams and agencies and value collaboration, consultation and building constructive stakeholder relationships. Proactive and adaptable, you are keen to further develop your policy expertise while contributing to meaningful work that supports biodiversity conservation and long-term environmental outcomes across NSW.

Essential Requirements 

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant field.
