EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity to the people of NSW as coal-fired power stations near closure.


About the Opportunity

The Planning and Communities team at EnergyCo is seeking a Senior Policy and Project Officer to  manage and coordinate complex projects that deliver strategic policy and legislative advice to support infrastructure works and informed decision-making across the Energy Corporation of NSW. The position combines project management, policy development and stakeholder engagement to ensure high-quality outcomes are delivered on time, within scope and aligned with government priorities.

We are ideally seeking a candidate based in Regional NSW, with a strong preference for applicants located in the Riverina–Murray region, including Wagga Wagga, Deniliquin or Hay. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful energy policy and infrastructure initiatives while working closely with regional stakeholders and communities.

About You

You bring demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and policy initiatives within a government or public sector context, with a strong understanding of contemporary government policy settings and community expectations. You are skilled in developing and implementing project plans, managing risks and budgets, and ensuring deliverables are achieved on time, within scope and to a high standard.

You are a confident communicator with highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, able to negotiate, influence and build productive relationships with senior decision-makers and diverse stakeholders across the energy market. You provide clear, pragmatic and well-reasoned advice, prepare high-quality briefings and submissions, and are comfortable working under pressure to deliver innovative, policy-aligned solutions to complex issues.

Who we are? 

The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory corporation established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and governed by its Board, appointed by the Minister for Energy.  EnergyCo is a Staff Agency employing all EnergyCo staff and is an agency related to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

EnergyCo plays a pivotal role in the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, which aims to transform the state’s electricity system into one that is cheap, clean, and reliable. As Infrastructure Planner under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020, EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of the State’s first five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and the first two priority transmission infrastructure projects (PTIPs), which are located in the Central-West Orana, New England, South West, Hunter-Central Coast, and Illawarra regions. We work closely with communities, investors, and industry to investigate, plan, recommend and coordinate generation, storage and network infrastructure projects.
