The role

 Step into a role where you help turn planning ideas into real outcomes, particularly for regional communities across NSW.

You’ll get involved in the assessment of housing initiatives, complex state significant development, tourism proposals and a mix of planning projects across regional NSW, digging into research, analysing data, and translating complex information into clear, practical insights. You’ll work closely with councils, stakeholders and colleagues, answering enquiries, preparing reports and briefings, and keeping planning processes running smoothly.

The pace is fast and the environment is dynamic, so you’ll be balancing competing priorities, navigating legislation and policy, and responding quickly with high‑quality work.

It’s a role for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, collaborating with diverse voices, and making planning information easy for everyone to understand.

What you will bring to the role

  • Strong experience delivering assessments for planning projects, including in housing and place‑based initiatives, with an ability to work collaboratively with councils and diverse stakeholders.
  • Skilled in research, data analysis and problem‑solving, using evidence to identify issues and develop practical planning options and solutions.
  • Confident communicating with internal and external stakeholders, providing clear, accurate advice on planning matters and supporting consistent application of NSW planning policies.
  • Proven ability to prepare high‑quality reports, briefings and correspondence that translate complex technical information into clear, accessible language.
  • Solid understanding of planning and environmental legislation, supported by the ability to work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities and contribute to improving systems and processes.

What is an essential requirement:

  • Tertiary degree qualification or other equivalent qualification
  • Willingness to travel and Class C Driver’s Licence for regional positions
