The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment & Water (DCCEEW) are looking for a Principal Solution Architect to join a dynamic and growing IT team!

About the role

The Principal Solution Architect works closely with a team of Solution Architects to create technology solutions that align with enterprise standards and roadmaps. This role involves developing capability models, analysing solution options, and collaborating with technology teams to document and implement end-to-end solution designs on schedule.

As the Principal Solution Architect, your key responsibilities will include defining solutions that meet business demands and align with enterprise architecture, working with service providers to ensure IT solutions deliver business benefits, and managing service level agreements. You will be responsible for interpreting business requirements, informing strategic technology investments, and ensuring solutions are implemented as expected.

In this role, you will be challenged with balancing project interdependencies, developing tailored solutions to align with various architectures, and staying current with industry best practices.

About you

As well as having extensive experience in a solution architecture position or equivalent role, to succeed in this role, you’ll also need to have:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to complex, evolving challenges and tight deadlines
  • Excellent teamwork, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Proven experience as a solution architect on large-scale, multi-system IT projects
  • Extensive background in IT solution implementation using project management methodologies
  • Expertise in TOGAF (certification preferred) and enterprise architecture tools (e.g. Microsoft Visio, Ardoq)
  • Technical experience with application architecture, Agile, SDLC, .NET or Python, integration platforms (Azure/MuleSoft), cloud (Azure/AWS), CRM (Salesforce), mobile, SOA, ESB, and cloud-based systems
  • Proficiency in application, data, and technology modelling

Essential requirements 

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience
