Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $94,423 pa to $105,016 pa + super
The Strategic Policy and Cabinet Branch is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Project Officer to join a high-performing and collaborative team at the centre of government decision-making. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the delivery of strategic policy, projects and Cabinet functions that directly support DCCEEW outcomes. No two days will be the same, and you will gain valuable exposure to how policy and Cabinet processes operate in practice.
About the role
The Assistant Project Officer will:
- Lead management of the branch mailbox and BAU requests, and support internal procedures, branch coordination and customer service to enable smooth branch operations.
- Provide broad program, project and operational support to ensure on-time, on-budget, high-quality delivery.
- Support financial and administrative functions and maintain accurate financial records and reporting.
- Work independently to manage processes, solve problems, respond to stakeholders and maintain accurate branch information.
About You
- You are proactive, highly organised and enjoy delivering high-quality support in a fast-paced environment.
- You communicate clearly and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- You have experience in administrative, secretariat or project support, including contributing to project delivery, maintaining records and providing responsive customer service.
- You can manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- You have some understanding of government and/or Cabinet processes, or the ability to learn quickly, and are motivated to develop your skills in project and policy support within a collaborative environment.
