About the role
Join National Parks and Wildlife Service as a Senior Asset Management Officer and help protect some of Australia’s most iconic natural and cultural landscapes.
The Senior Asset Management Officer will serve as a trusted advisor within West branch of NPWS, playing a key role in strengthening the organisation’s asset management capability and maturity. This position ensures public assets are strategically managed and optimised to deliver government priorities and organisational objectives.
You will lead the implementation of robust asset management frameworks, systems and practices that enhance financial sustainability and operational efficiency. Overseeing both fixed and mobile assets, you will ensure they are effectively planned, funded and aligned with strategic goals. Your expertise will be instrumental in protecting organisational assets, driving cost efficiencies, and maintaining full compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and relevant policies.
Working across a diverse portfolio — including operational and visitor infrastructure, fire and management trails and heritage assets — you’ll collaborate with a passionate team and spend time in some truly spectacular outdoor locations.

About You
As a Senior Asset Management Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the West Branch by leading and delivering best-practice asset management processes across the full asset lifecycle.
You will be responsible for prioritising, identifying, tracking and managing assets, with a strong focus on maintenance, decommissioning and whole-of-life planning. Working closely with internal stakeholders, you will help shape and deliver critical asset management programs that align with organisational priorities.
This role suits an experienced asset management professional with a proven ability to develop and implement strategies, establish effective procedures, and ensure compliance with relevant policy, legislation and state-wide frameworks.
You will also bring sound procurement expertise and a proactive, solutions-focused approach to delivering outcomes that make a real impact.
Essential requirements
- Demonstrated experience in the leadership of asset management and in the use of asset management systems including extensive experience in the management of staff or contractors.
- Demonstrated experience in applying financial and/or accounting principles to assets and their lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated experience in the establishment, administration, management, monitoring and financial reporting on complex asset management contracts and projects.
- Demonstrated understanding of the legislation applying to protected area management, contract management, Work, Health and Safety, construction standards and environmental plan.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the application of safe work practices and risk management.
