The Digital Information Office within DPHI is looking for a forward-thinking integration expert who is excited to shape how our systems connect, grow and evolve. You will design and shape integration solutions that turn business needs into practical, future‑ready technology, while setting the strategic direction for the Department’s integration platform. Working closely with business leaders, technical teams and partners, you will ensure solutions are cohesive, scalable and aligned to the enterprise architecture roadmap.

 

You will work closely with business and technical stakeholders across the organisation, balancing competing priorities and navigating complex system interdependencies. Your expertise will help improve existing systems, design better ways of working and ensure our technology solutions are consistent, efficient and reliable.

What you will bring to the role

  • Strategic integration leadership, with the ability to develop and guide long‑term integration roadmaps across MuleSoft, Azure, AWS and hybrid enterprise environments, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy, digital priorities and future-state architecture.
  • Strong people and stakeholder management capability, fostering collaborative working relationships with technical teams, business units, vendors and executives. You bring the ability to influence, negotiate and shape outcomes in complex multi‑agency or multi‑platform contexts.
  • A systems-thinking mindset, able to understand complex interdependencies, anticipate risks, and prioritise integration work effectively in a fast‑moving, multi‑technology landscape.
  • Advanced problem‑solving skills, using evidence, analysis and architectural rigor to design secure, scalable and practical integration patterns.
  • Confidence operating autonomously, owning architectural decisions, design integrity, governance adherence and ensuring quality outcomes across multiple product and platform teams.
  • Strong commitment to cyber security, governance, and compliance, embedding secure-by-design practices across APIs, integrations and data flows.

 

Key Knowledge and Experience

  • Deep technical expertise across integration platforms and frameworks, including:
    • MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (API-led design, RAML/OAS, Mule runtimes)
    • Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, API Management, Service Bus, Functions)
    • AWS integration services (API Gateway, EventBridge, Lambda, SQS/SNS, Step Functions)
    • Hybrid integration across cloud, on‑prem and legacy systems
    • API management, security policies, OAuth2, identity integration
    • Modern integration patterns including SOA, microservices, ESB, event-driven and real-time integrations
    • SDLC, DevOps and CI/CD practices for integration delivery
  • Experience operating at senior or enterprise architecture level, navigating complex organisational structures and driving cross-team alignment.
  • Strong awareness of current and emerging integration trends, including event-driven architecture, cloud-native integration, streaming, automation-led integration, and their alignment with broader ICT and enterprise architecture strategies.
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical teams, guiding engineers, developers and analysts through design decisions, integration patterns and best-practice delivery.
