The Conservation Programs Heritage & Regs team is seeking a Senior Policy Officer to support the operation of the Biodiversity Credits Supply Fund, including the delivery of reverse auctions and the buying and selling of biodiversity credits within the NSW market. This role sits at the intersection of policy, procurement and environmental markets, contributing to positive biodiversity outcomes across NSW.
You will support the day-to-day operations of the Supply Fund by contributing to operational guidelines, systems and processes, coordinating reverse auctions, working with stakeholders to grow participation in the market and, monitoring and reporting on Fund activity. Working closely with a collaborative, geographically dispersed team, you will engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and gain exposure to environmental markets, strategic projects, state-significant developments and state‑wide government programs.
About You
You are an experienced policy or program professional with a strong understanding of government processes and the ability to work effectively in complex legislative and administrative environments. You bring experience in policy development, program or fund operations, procurement or contract management, and can contribute to the development of practical guidelines and processes. Experience in environmental, regulatory or market ‑based programs, particularly biodiversity or environmental markets, will be highly regarded.
You are a clear and confident communicator who can build strong stakeholder relationships, manage competing priorities and exercise sound judgement when handling sensitive information. Organised and adaptable, you work collaboratively, write clearly for different audiences, and support the delivery of high ‑quality, state‑wide outcomes.
Key knowledge and experience
- Knowledge and experience of NSW government procurement policies and processes, including public disclosure rules, confidentiality, conflict of interest and probity requirements.
- Experience in stakeholder management and communication.
- Understanding of the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme and the offset rules would be an advantage.
- Knowledge and experience of environmental markets and/or funds management would be an advantage.
