- Temporary (Up to 31 December 2026) part time or full-time (up to 35 hours per week) opportunity
- Office location is Parramatta- regional location /Hybrid working supported
- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $115,817.00 to $130,667.00 + super
Our Heritage Policy and Strategy team is seeking to appoint a Project Officer to help deliver the first NSW Heritage Strategy. The successful candidate will undertake project management and delivery tasks, including designing and delivering community outreach programs, to contribute to the implementation of the Heritage Strategy actions.
This role is part of a small team dedicated to planning for, coordinating and overseeing the delivery of key actions under the NSW Heritage Strategy, a 5-year plan to strengthen heritage administration and management in NSW. Key responsibilities include using project management tools to monitor and report on project progress, working with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the timely delivery of key actions, identifying variations from project plans and leading the reporting of project progress. The role will also be responsible for leading the timely delivery of key policy projects including a new community outreach program. Key tasks might include community engagement, procurement, contract management, writing and reviewing reports and preparing briefing papers.
About You
To be successful in the role you will have experience in the following:
- Developing high ‑quality project documentation, reporting, and audit processes to ensure delivery aligned with agreed standards.
- Leading research, analysis, and program design activities aligned with organisational priorities.
- Implementing robust governance, resource planning, and reporting frameworks to support effective and timely program delivery.
- Delivering projects by proactively managing risks, interdependencies, contracts, and budgets to achieve scope, quality, and performance outcomes.
- Providing evidence based advice and briefings, while maintaining strong communication‑ and rigorous record‑keeping practices.
- Building effective relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and with external stakeholders to deliver results.
Key Knowledge and experience

- Project management skills demonstrating the ability to deliver agreed outcomes on time, on budget, and to quality standards, and demonstrated time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Experience working in a fast paced and high-volume office, including proven capacity to support senior management in the management of high-profile issues and projects.
