The role
The Senior API Technical Analyst focuses on digging into user, business and system needs, then turning that understanding into practical technical requirements that support smooth API integrations and reliable digital services. It involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders and product owners to gather API integration requirements, creating user stories, epics and acceptance criteria with project teams, and mapping API workflows that show how the Planning Portal connects with external systems. Day‑to‑day, the job centres on analysing issues, shaping solutions, supporting development teams, and making sure technical requirements are clearly communicated from ideation right through to delivery.
Because the environment is fast‑moving and stakeholder‑heavy, the role also means balancing competing priorities, managing tight deadlines and navigating a complex technology landscape. You’ll be expected to maintain deep technical knowledge, provide specialised API support, lead the articulation of business needs, and ensure solutions are fit for purpose and meet quality expectations. It’s a mix of hands‑on problem solving, collaborative solution design and continuous communication to keep services stable, integrated and aligned with what users and the organisation need.
