  • Office location: Parramatta (or other BCT office in NSW upon availability and negotiation). Hybrid working supported with a minimum expectation of 60% of time in the office.
  • Salary relative to experience and ranges from $124,322 to $138,494 plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

 

The NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT), has an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team as a Senior Technical Services Officer (Customer Data) in our Agreements and Technical Services team. 

This is your chance to make a real difference for biodiversity in NSW. In this unique role, you’ll use your technical skills for an environmental purpose. As Senior Technical Services Officer (Customer Data), you’ll take the lead in managing our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and customer data. You’ll help improve our systems, ensure our data is reliable, boost staff skills, and support change. Your work will turn strategic goals into practical results, helping deliver conservation programs that matter across the state.

 

About the role

As the Senior Technical Services Officer (Customer Data), you’ll work closely with our systems, data, and people. You’ll provide practical support and expert guidance for our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, which uses Salesforce. This system is vital for our core work. Your job is to make sure the CRM is reliable, well managed, and genuinely helps us manage our interactions with landholders and supports conservation efforts across NSW.  You’ll collaborate across teams to ensure the system is reliable, integrated, and continuously improved.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver and oversee expert technical support for the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to resolve bugs, enhance user experience, and maintain ongoing system reliability.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of best-practice customer data management processes.
  • Collaborate with BCT teams to design and roll out innovative, integrated CRM solutions.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with service providers to ensure efficient service delivery and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate a structured, strategic approach to CRM system development, ensuring the platform aligns with current BCT requirements and supports future capability growth.
  • Support and lead change management initiatives.
  • Promote operational efficiencies by integrating the CRM with other core BCT business systems.

 

 About You

 You enjoy making complex systems work smoothly and meaningfully. With experience working closely with CRM platforms and customer data, you bring practical ideas and sound judgement to improve how systems support real‑world outcomes.

You’re a collaborative problem‑solver who can lead system improvements, influence ways of working across teams, and support people through change. You’ve delivered initiatives that bring people and technology together, and you communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

You understand the importance of high‑quality data, clear governance and thoughtful change management, and you balance business needs, system constraints and long‑term outcomes. Whether your skills come from formal study or hands‑on experience, you’re ready to apply them in a role that blends technology, collaboration and environmental purpose.

 

Key knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrated experience supporting Customer Relationship Management software activities (Salesforce highly desirable), including system configuration and administration, customisation and development, data management and integrity, integration, technical support and troubleshooting, strategy and optimisation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of contemporary data management principles and practice including relational database design, efficient data manipulation querying and reporting and compliance with relevant government policies.

Essential Requirements 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience working in a similar role and operating experience

The New South Wales Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) is a not-for-profit statutory body, established under Part 10 of the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and managed by a Board appointed by the Minister for the Environment.

The Trust’s roles are to support and encourage landholders to enter into agreements to conserve and protect biodiversity on private land, guided by the government’s Biodiversity Conservation Investment Strategy; secure biodiversity offsets when developers choose to pay into the Biodiversity Conservation Fund; and other activities that promote greater awareness of, appreciation and understanding of, biodiversity and the importance of conserving it.

We acknowledge the ongoing custodial responsibilities of the Aboriginal peoples of NSW to care for Country and are committed to establishing meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal peoples in the management of the environment.

 

Participation in the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS) and the BCT’s private land conservation (PLC) programs

The successful applicant for this role will be required to declare any conflict of interests related to the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme, as defined in the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme Conflict of Interests Protocol. This ensures the department is made aware of potential conflicts of interest so they can be appropriately managed.

Where an applicant has a high-risk “defined interest” in the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme, they may be required to divest this interest before being employed by the department.

The BCT also has restrictions on staff participation in its funded PLC programs. No additional funding, beyond that already agreed to by the BCT, may be sought or approved during time as a BCT employee or for a 12-month period following termination of employment.
