Our Strategic Policy Science and Engagement team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Project Officer to support the delivery of complex projects involving research partners across the Science & Insights Division. This role offers the opportunity to work with subject‑matter experts, support research and environmental scanning, and contribute to initiatives that help shape evidence informed decision‑making across government.
In this role, you will be supporting how the Science and Insights Division procures and partners for science and research. You will be responsible for producing centralised advice and guidance to support staff to strategically plan, initiate and manage research partnerships. You will also contribute to building guidance on probity in research procurement, gathering insights on our research partners and their needs, and supporting productive networks with research partners, universities and government agencies. The role contributes to risk mitigation strategies, supporting strategic planning and helping ensure science projects are delivered efficiently and to quality standards.
About You
You have strong communication skills, good judgement and the ability to work effectively in environments where scientific, environmental and organisational priorities can shift quickly. You can interpret government policies and procedures to provide clear, tailored advice on process, and contribute to the development of plans, policies or frameworks that support strategic science outcomes. You have strong analytical capability and can readily identify emerging issues and provide advice on next steps and risk mitigation strategies. You have experience supporting or coordinating complex projects.
Collaborative and adaptable, you work well with internal teams and external partners, maintaining constructive relationships that support successful project delivery. You are comfortable coordinating tasks, managing competing priorities and contributing to quality knowledge‑sharing processes. Your proactive approach, attention to detail, a focus on quality assurance and control, and ability to connect insights with organisational needs will help you succeed in this diverse and impactful role.
Key knowledge and experience
- Proven knowledge, skills and experience in policy/systems development, and strategic planning relevant to a scientific and or research organisation.
- Proven knowledge, skills and experience in the provision of professional scientific services and research related to the natural sciences.
