The role
As Lead Security Analyst (Blue Team), you will provide technical and operational leadership in guiding how the Department detects, investigates, and responds to cyber threats. You will set direction for threat hunting, detection engineering, and threat intelligence, ensuring monitoring capabilities evolve to address emerging risks. You will lead the team through the full incident lifecycle and drive continuous improvement of playbooks, Standard Operating Procedures, and response processes to strengthen detection quality and response effectiveness.
Day to day, you will navigate a fast-changing threat landscape, balancing workloads across a busy analyst team, and improving how critical systems feed into monitoring and detection. You also work closely with business teams, refine detection strategies, and keep the team focused on delivering accurate, timely responses to complex security events.

What you will bring to the role

Key Knowledge and Experience
- Extensive experience in security operations, including advanced incident analysis, threat detection and threat hunting.
- Strong capability with SIEM, EDR, email security, logging and threat intelligence tools, including tuning and optimisation.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate technical incident response, including triage, containment and root cause analysis.
- Experience developing and improving operational processes, playbooks, SOPs and detection rules.
- Experience mentoring analysts and providing technical leadership and peer review.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret threat intelligence and translate risks into actionable detection and response measures.
- Good understanding of cyber security governance, standards and regulatory requirements.
