The role

The Cyber Incident Coordinator acts as the central point for managing the Department’s response to cyber security incidents. The role is responsible for guiding incidents from initial identification through containment and recovery, and into post‑incident review, ensuring responses are timely, coordinated, and carried out in line with established processes and playbooks.

 

During an active incident, the coordinator facilitates clear and consistent communication between technical teams, business areas, executives, and external parties where required. This includes confirming incident severity, coordinating response activities, escalating issues when necessary, and maintaining accurate records of decisions and actions to support governance, compliance, and audit needs.

What you will bring to the role

  • Maintains meticulous attention to detail amidst high-volume workloads, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks and deliverables. 

 

Key Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating cyber security incidents across the full lifecycle, including analysis, containment, recovery, stakeholder engagement and post‑incident review.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability, including conducting analysis and identifying improvements to strengthen incident response processes.
  • Experience using cyber security and monitoring technologies that support threat detection, logging, analysis and incident management.
  • Knowledge of cyber security threats, attack techniques and emerging trends, with the ability to proactively research and monitor the evolving threat landscape.
  • Knowledge of relevant cyber security policies, standards and regulatory reporting requirements applicable to incident response (e.g., government, industry or organisational frameworks).
