- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $149,739 to $173,174 pa plus superannuation.
We are seeking a strategic and technically accomplished Manager, Energy Modelling and Analytics to lead the development and implementation of advanced energy data models and business intelligence capabilities for the NSW electricity and gas systems. This team is part of the Data & Analytics branch in Energy, Climate Change and Sustainability.
This is a leadership role responsible for shaping long-term energy policy through rigorous analytics, scenario modelling and evidence-based insights. The role will guide complex quantitative modelling, inform executive decision-making, and create an integrated, forward-looking view of energy supply, demand and pricing across NSW.
The role will also be responsible for:
- Assessing short- and medium-term risks, including the impacts of policy proposals and technology disruption.
- Lead the development of frameworks, standards and policies that strengthen organisational data capability and governance.
- Maintaining up-to-date expertise in a rapidly evolving energy market shaped by legislative, regulatory and policy change.

About You
You are an experienced leader with expertise in energy systems modelling, quantitative analysis and strategic policy development.
You will have proven experience and knowledge of electricity markets and an understanding of the National Electricity Market and extensive experience with complicated data model languages and systems such as Python, MATLAB, R, SQL, PLEXOS etc.
Additionally, you will bring a:
- Strong background in energy market modelling (electricity and/or gas).
- Advanced quantitative and analytical capability.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical insights into clear executive advice.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
