  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $138,539 to $148,283 + super

 

Are you interested in developing planning policy that shapes communities, improves housing choice and supports the delivery of diverse and affordable housing? We’re looking for a Senior Planning Officer to join the Housing Policy and Codes team, leading policy initiatives that support the delivery of diverse and affordable homes and in well located areas across NSW.

 

About the role

As a Senior Planning Officer, you will help develop, implement and monitor housing policies and planning instruments. You’ll provide expert land‑use planning advice, collaborate with key stakeholders, and lead policy reform to improve housing outcomes across NSW. Your work will shape a planning system that supports diverse, inclusive communities and increases the supply of well‑located affordable housing.

 

In this role you will

  • Lead the development and review of planning policies and initiatives related to diverse and affordable housing.
  • Undertake research, data analysis, and strategic assessments to inform evidence‑based policy development.
  • Prepare high‑quality briefing notes, reports and policy documents.
  • Provide expert planning advice to senior executives and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage complex projects while coordinating input and engagement across industry, government agencies and councils.
  • Monitor policy performance and support continuous improvement across the planning system.

You will bring

  • A Degree qualification in planning, geography, urban design, economics, environment, housing, social science or related discipline (essential).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant planning and environmental legislation
  • Relevant experience in planning policy, development assessment or the supporting the delivery of diverse housing types including affordable housing.
