We are seeking a Coxswain grade 1 near coast qualified Services Officer to join our Milson Island Sport and Recreation Centre and Broken Bay Sport and Recreation Centre.
The Service Officer role is ideal for candidates with hands‑on maintenance skills who enjoy variety in their day-to-day work including minor repairs and maintenance to Centre facilities, vessel operations and providing logistical support for water access-only locations.
Casual pay rates starting from $32.45 per hour plus casual loading and 12% superannuation.
About the role
As a Service Officer, you will work within a team to deliver on the logistical requirements of a water access-only Centre, undertake reactive and proactive maintenance, repairs and upkeep of the centre grounds, buildings, and equipment to re-enforce the Centre’s focus on safety, and customer satisfaction. This role will support the Centre operations and work closely with Centre management and other work teams.
The casual Service Officer positions have been created to provide coverage during staff leave and to support Centre operations during busy periods of client bookings.

About you
The ideal candidate will bring to the role:
- A current Class C drivers’ licence, a Coxswain grade 1 near coastal certificate and relevant sea experience to support operations of Office of Sport vessels.
- Experience performing both scheduled and reactive maintenance across the centre’s assets—including buildings, equipment, pools and grounds to ensure a safe, professional and well-presented environment for customers.
- A strong sense of pride in maintenance tasks and a commitment.
- The ability to adapt to changing demands of the role and navigate through logistical tasks associated with working on an island. This includes manual labour of supplies, resources and client luggage.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
All appointments will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a pre‑employment medical assessment prior to commencing duty, reference checks, and a National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014. Successful applicants will also need to undertake a hearing test (audiometric test) within the first three months of employment (baseline test), followed by a hearing test at least every two years. To be eligible for this position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a valid Australian working visa for the duration of the appointment.
