- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $124,322 to $138,494 + super
Our Water for the Environment Branch is seeking to appoint a Senior Policy Officer to undertake policy development, provide advice on complex regulatory matters, and influence whole-of-government and national policy formation.
The Senior Policy Officer supports the Conservation Protection, Heritage and Regulation Group and the Minister for the Environment by providing policy advice relating to water for the environment and leading the development of strategic and operational policy.
The Water for the Environment Branch is responsible for managing the NSW environmental water portfolio. This includes the provision of policy advice on state-wide strategic and regulatory water planning to support the delivery of water for the environment across New South Wales, and key components of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.
About You
To be successful in the role, you will have demonstrated the following:
- Experience in leading or supporting analysis and reviews of policy, regulation, legislation or similar. Experience in the environmental or water management field would be advantageous.
- The ability to establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management.
- Experience preparing evidence-based advice, discussion papers, briefs and submissions to contribute to the development of policies and advice to senior executives and the Minister.
- Experience in or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge about environmental water management in New South Wales and the Murray-Darling Basin.
Essential requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience.
