  • Senior Project Officer (Environment Officer Class 9)
  • Temporary full-time until 28 April 2028 (35 hours per week) opportunity 
  • Office location is State-wide - hybrid working supported
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $124,322 to $138,494 + super

 

We are advertising a unique opportunity to join the Biodiversity Assessment Method Review Team within Biodiversity Offsets Branch. We are currently seeking to appoint a Senior Project Officer to provide evidence-based operational advice, undertake program development and independently manage complex and challenging projects relating to the NSW Biodiversity Offsets scheme.

The role’s primary objective is to investigate, evaluate and advise on emerging technologies, spatial modelling and novel techniques in the context of the Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM). You would work within a highly motivated and experienced multi-disciplinary team.

 

About You

You will operate with a high level of autonomy within the context of an agreed work plan and make decisions within the limits of your delegated authority. You would be accountable for the delivery of assigned work as directed by your supervisor/manager.

 

Essential requirements

  • An appropriate degree in Science, Environmental Science, or a related discipline, or a similar relevant qualification.
  • Demonstrated detailed knowledge and understanding of the indices and models used to assess changes in biodiversity values in the Biodiversity Assessment Method. 
  • Proven capacity to design and evaluate emerging technologies and spatial models for implementation in a biodiversity assessment and conservation context.
  • Understanding of the role and function of Government with respect to biodiversity conservation policy and legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and work with technical and scientific information in the context of biodiversity conservation programs including operational policy and program development.

 

Desirable qualification

  • BAM assessor accreditation
