Reporting to the CEO, the Executive Director, Investments (EDI) is a senior executive and member of the Executive Team responsible for structuring and executing catalytic investments that accelerate priority infrastructure projects in NSW to financial close and mobilising private capital. 

 

The EDI is responsible for leadership and management of the investment team and external commercial and technical advisors.  Together with the CEO, the EDI will develop the ESC’s pipeline of investment opportunities in accordance with the ESC’s Investment Mandate.  

 

The EDI, with the CEO, CRO, and Head of Credit, will continue to develop the ESC’s investment operations including development of investment policies and processes.  The EDI will contribute to the ESC’s investment strategy that mobilises private capital and accelerates delivery of priority infrastructure. 

 

About You

 

To be successful in this position, you will be an experienced senior Energy & Infrastructure financing / investment executive with a strong track record of leading and managing investments in renewable energy, energy storage and infrastructure projects across Australia. You are a senior leader with the credibility and judgement to work effectively with project sponsors, lenders, institutional investors and government.  

 

Key Success Requirements

 

  • Proven ability to originate, structure and execute complex energy and infrastructure investments and progress projects through to financial close.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure investments across the capital stack (including subordinated debt, mezzanine debt, and hybrid instruments) to unlock projects and bring investments forward.
  • Extensive experience in infrastructure investment with a focus on greenfield renewable energy, energy storage or infrastructure assets.
  • Proven track record in establishing and managing aggregated investment vehicles, portfolio management and establishing investment operations in an infrastructure investment context.
  • Deep understanding of the regulatory and market landscape of energy investments, greenfield and development projects, and experience in navigating complex legal and financial structures.
  • Demonstrated track record of working collaboratively with senior, highly specialised investment, legal and finance colleagues. 
  • Degree in finance, economics, or related field with professional qualifications such as CFA, CPA, or similar.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, high ethical standards and sound judgment.
