The Senior Project Officer leads the strategic integration, development and delivery of programs that support the Tackling Violence initiative as part of the Office of Sport’s broader domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) primary prevention work.
The role works closely with Aboriginal communities, the sport sector and internal partners to ensure culturally responsive, evidence‑based program design and implementation. It plays a key role in coordinating interrelated prevention activities, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring initiatives align with the NSW Strategy for the Prevention of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence 2024–2028. The position also oversees program monitoring, evaluation, risk management and reporting to support informed decision‑making and deliver meaningful outcomes for First Nations communities and the wider NSW community.
Responsibilities
- Lead project planning, development and implementation activities for the Tackling Violence initiative to ensure delivery aligns with objectives, timelines, governance and stakeholder expectations.
- Redesign and develop the Tackling Violence program, incorporating recommendations from the Inside Policy review and stakeholder feedback.
- Provide strategic integration across interrelated primary prevention programs, including Aboriginal‑led Prevention, managing interdependencies and day‑to‑day delivery issues.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with Aboriginal partners, community organisations, service providers and internal stakeholders to support collaborative delivery and manage expectations.
- Coordinate resources, budgets, reporting and project‑related activities (procurement, contracting, grants) to ensure outcomes are delivered on time, within scope and in line with policy and contractual requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate program implementation, including risks, contingencies, benefits and quality, applying mitigation strategies and escalating issues where required.
- Provide timely, evidence‑based advice, briefings and reports to senior leaders and stakeholders on program progress, risks, emerging issues and implementation considerations.
You bring strong experience working with Aboriginal communities, with a deep understanding of Aboriginal culture, governance structures and culturally appropriate ways of working. You are an adaptable project professional who can manage complex, interrelated prevention initiatives in a dynamic environment while maintaining program integrity and cultural responsiveness.
You communicate clearly, negotiate effectively and build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders, including Aboriginal partners, community organisations and government agencies. You are skilled at managing competing priorities, identifying risks early, and applying sound judgement to determine when escalation is required. Your ability to integrate programs, coordinate resources, and support evidence‑based evaluation ensures high‑quality, impactful outcomes aligned with whole‑of‑government prevention priorities.
