  • Temporary (12-month role) with the possibility of extension, full time opportunity– 35 hours per week.
  • Parramatta office location, hybrid working supported
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $129,464 up to $142,665 pa plus superannuation

 

The Climate Change & Strategy Division is recruiting for a Senior Policy & Project Officer position and may also create a talent pool for future ongoing and temporary vacancies that may become available over the next 18 months.

The role is available within in the Roadmap Governance (RG) team. This team works strategically to support delivery of the Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap and the NSW energy transition.

The high-impact role provides opportunities to deliver the statutory review of the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020, develop and implement policy to improve equity in the Roadmap cost-recovery framework, develop policy to inform legislative reform and regulatory amendments, and provide advice on Roadmap governance and cost recovery.

The role involves stakeholder engagement and close collaboration with Roadmap entities and other government agencies. The Roadmap Governance team is seeking someone with policy and legislative reform experience.

 

An understanding of energy regulatory frameworks and/or economics and finance would also be highly valued.

About You

As a Senior Policy & Project Officer, you will lead the development and delivery of complex policy, reform and project initiatives targeted at enabling a just and timely energy transformation in NSW.

 

You will provide high‑quality advice to senior executives and Ministers, work collaboratively across government, and support the delivery of government priorities in a fast‑paced and evolving policy environment.

 

Candidate should demonstrate:

  • Experience leading the development of policy advice on complex issues, preferably within the energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience developing policy and advice to inform legislative reform and regulatory amendments, including preparing high-quality briefs for senior decision makers.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and lead the delivery of priority policy, reform and project initiatives.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working collaboratively with a broad range of government and industry stakeholders, at senior levels, to achieve effective outcomes.
  • Ability to develop and interpret quantitative models and provide guidance on implications for policy and regulation.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience, with an understanding of the energy sector and the energy transition.
