About the roles
This is your perfect opportunity to join NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and work in a client facing role contributing to the protection of the natural environment and Aboriginal heritage in the stunning Kosciuszko National Park of the Southern Ranges Branch.
The Visitor Service Support Assistants work in the Alpine Way and Kosciuszko Road Entrance Stations to the Kosciuszko National Park. The roles are relied upon to provide diverse administrative and related services to support the day-to-day operations of a Visitor Service Centre including, but not limited to:
- collecting fees
- collecting relevant visitor information
- customer services; and
- assisting with park compliance patrol duties.
The roles are suited to customer service professionals who have strong communication and negotiation skills as well as sound people and diplomatic skills to deal effectively with cultural differences. Experience working independently in fast-changing environments with the ability to make quick, strategic decisions when supervisors are not readily available will see you succeed in the role.
The position will require you to be available to work weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- experience in delivering accurate and consistent work within a high-volume environment.
- demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of vigilance and awareness of personal safety when operating at the vehicle entrance stations ensuring attention to detail when collecting park use fees.
- demonstrated ability to exercise excellent customer service and communication skills as well as sound people and diplomatic skills to deal effectively with cultural differences or limited English skills.
Essential requirements
- Good oral communication, and customer service skills with experience dealing with customer inquiries and the ability to manage such inquiries in a manner that addresses customer’s concerns.
- Capacity and willingness to undertake enforcement duties associated with the park use fee system and NPWS Regulations, with an ability to work unsupervised and adapt to competing priorities
- Basic computer skills and the ability to operate a two-way radio.
- This role also requires a current driver’s licence. The holder of this role will be required to wear an NPWS uniform. This role may also involve regular evening and weekend work. This is a shift-based position, under the Crown Employees (Public Service).
