  • Two temporary fulltime roles to February 2030
  • Sydney, Newcastle, Mudgee or Dubbo location with hybrid working from home and office supported
  • Salary range from $183,848 to $208,267 plus super and leave loading

 

EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity to the people of NSW as coal-fired power stations near closure.


About the Opportunity

We are looking to fill two Associate Director Commercial roles, responsible for managing the commercial team and providing specialised advice relating to all commercial and contractual aspects of the project deed for the following:

These roles manage the development and implementation of commercial frameworks to manage commercial priorities in the delivery of major transmission and generation project to ensure risk allocation, legislative compliance and value for money for energy consumers.

 

About You

You are a commercially astute leader with proven experience in the delivery phase of major infrastructure projects. Your expertise lies in contract management, overseeing commercial arrangements, and resolving disputes as these projects progress through design, construction, and commissioning. You provide clear, well-reasoned advice on contract policy and program matters, balancing financial, regulatory, technical, commercial, and social considerations to ensure project success.

With a deep understanding of the infrastructure delivery and energy sectors, you have hands-on experience managing complex governance across large-scale projects. In the delivery phase, you lead the commercial team to implement robust frameworks, navigate risk allocation and legislative compliance, and maintain value for money for NSW energy consumers. You are skilled in interpreting and managing detailed project deeds, coordinating interdependencies, and driving outcomes that support the timely and effective closeout of issues.

Recognised for your sound judgement, you confidently handle politically sensitive or confidential issues, ensuring risks are controlled without imposing unnecessary burdens on project teams. You build strong, enduring relationships with delivery partners, industry participants, and government stakeholders. Your negotiation skills allow you to balance competing priorities, emerging risks, and diverse requirements, particularly as these projects target critical delivery milestones. You thrive in complexity, consistently delivering outcomes that create tangible value for NSW.

 

Essential Requirements 

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or demonstrated equivalent experience.

Who we are?

The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory corporation established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and governed by its Board, appointed by the Minister for Energy.  EnergyCo is a Staff Agency employing all EnergyCo staff and is an agency related to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

EnergyCo plays a pivotal role in the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, which aims to transform the state’s electricity system into one that is cheap, clean, and reliable. As Infrastructure Planner under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020, EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of the State’s first five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and the first two priority transmission infrastructure projects (PTIPs), which are located in the Central-West Orana, New England, South West, Hunter-Central Coast, and Illawarra regions. We work closely with communities, investors, and industry to investigate, plan, recommend and coordinate generation, storage and network infrastructure projects.

We acknowledge the ongoing custodial responsibilities of the Aboriginal peoples of NSW to care for Country and water and are committed to establishing meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal peoples in the management of the environment.
