  • Clerk Grade 7/8 - Salary ranges from $113,574 to $125,720 + super & leave loading
     

 

The role  

The Work, Health and Safety Advisor play a key role in strengthening the Office of Sport’s safety culture and ensuring the wellbeing of our people. You will coordinate and deliver WHS and Injury Management programs that support compliance with legislation, agency policies and public sector requirements.  

A core part of the role is providing expert advice to managers, supporting early, safe and durable return‑to‑work outcomes, and contributing to the development of WHS systems, policies and processes. You’ll work across a diverse organisation, helping managers understand their responsibilities, identifying risks, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance. 

 

About You 

You are a proactive WHS professional who brings strong technical knowledge, sound judgement and a commitment to building a positive safety culture. You’re confident advising managers, navigating complex regulatory requirements and supporting staff through injury management and return‑to‑work processes. You combine analytical capability with a practical, solutions‑focused approach and can balance competing priorities in a dynamic environment.  

 

You will demonstrate:

  • Capability to analyse and recommend improvements to WHS and risk management strategies, systems and processes. 
  • Expertise in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating WHS policies, procedures and practices to support compliance and improve service delivery. 
  • Skills in managing injury management cases as the Return-to-Work Coordinator, including referrals and advice for both work-related and non-work-related injuries or illness. 
  • Expertise in providing WHS, risk management and wellbeing advice to managers, supporting risk identification, mitigation, injury prevention and wellbeing initiatives. 
  • Practical and strategic insight into strengthening the agency’s return-to-work program and workers compensation processes. 
  • Skills in the development of a strong safety culture, including contributing to the safety management system. 

Essential Requirements 

  • WHS Certificate IV or demonstrated WHS experience. 
  • Return to Work Coordinator accreditation or ability to undertake this successfully within one month of commencement 
  • Current and valid NSW drivers full licence and ability to travel and work from Office of Sport sites as required 
  • Obtain and maintain a Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
