The role
Crown Lands is seeking an experienced Senior Project Officer – Assets to lead complex construction, remediation, and asset management projects that support the sustainable stewardship of public land across New South Wales. This is a high‑impact role for a proactive professional who thrives on variety, technical challenge, and meaningful public‑sector work.
In this senior role, you will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of built assets and capital works projects, guiding them from concept to completion. Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertake all aspects of asset management in relation to a range of built assets on Crown land whilst contributing to the development and improvement of the Crown Lands asset management system.
- Research, analyse and scope solutions including the identification of appropriate planning pathways for construction projects and works.
- Manage and oversee all aspects of project planning, approvals, development and implementation for a range of construction and asset management projects to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope in line with established agency project management methodology.
- Undertake procurement and tendering activities including scope development, preparing contract documents, tender evaluations, and contract administration
- Monitor and evaluate project implementation, including risk and contingency management, benefits realisation, project impact and quality measures, to identify and address issues, assess project progress and effectiveness, and achieve project outcomes
- Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to engage with internal business groups and other divisions of the department to ensure project deliverables are met.
- Manage and develop staff ensuring operational effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities and implement actions including customer experience improvement programs to optimise service delivery efficiency and effectiveness
- Prepare government specific documentation including briefing notes, reports, business cases and other high level corporate documentation in a timely manner to support the business case or position of Crown Lands.

About You
You’re a confident, solutions‑focused professional with a strong background in asset management and project delivery. You bring:
- Demonstrated experience managing construction or asset-related projects in complex environments.
- Strong understanding of planning pathways, procurement processes and government contract frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
- Leadership capability and a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement.
Essential requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Asset Management, Project Management, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Engineering, or relevant field, or relevant experience
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence with an ability and willingness to travel.
