About the role
The National Parks and Wildlife Service is offering an exciting opportunity to join the Southern Ranges Infrastructure Program team as an Asset Officer, playing a key role in conserving our natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.

In this role, you will provide expert advice and guidance to support strategic programs focused on the life cycle management of both existing and future assets. Working closely with the Senior Asset Officer and the wider branch, you will be involved in asset management, condition monitoring, assessments, and a variety of fixed asset projects across the branch’s national parks and reserves. Proficiency with the NPWS Asset Management System will be central to your work, helping ensure the ongoing care and sustainability of our natural and cultural treasures.

About You
To excel in this role, you will be highly motivated with exceptional verbal and written communication skills and proven experience in a similar position. You thrive as a proactive team player, taking initiative and building strong, effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. You bring solid asset management experience and strong project management skills, with a track record of supporting the development of asset management capability through the implementation of consistent principles and systems.

You are experienced in using and enhancing Asset Management Systems to improve data quality and ensure consistent application across the state. Additionally, you have a background in delivering training, supporting staff, and promoting the use of Asset Management Systems and software interfaces, as well as analysing and updating data using spatial and database tools. 

Essential requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in asset management frameworks and systems including program supervision, coordination and data management
  • Demonstrated experience liaising with and coordinating staff or contractors undertaking asset maintenance and construction activities.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the application of construction codes, safe work practices and risk management in the construction and maintenance of facilities and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial reporting requirements for capital projects as well as an understanding of risk management principles as they apply to maintenance and construction of infrastructure and assets.
  • Understanding of the legislation applying to protected area management, contract management, Workplace Health and Safety, construction standards and environmental planning.
  • A current Australian drivers licence.
