About the Opportunities
We are seeking motivated and experienced professionals to contribute to NSW clean energy future, as part of the Low Carbon Programs (LCIP) branch in NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. This team is investing $1 billion in major economic projects this decade, to strengthen and future-proof NSW’s industrial manufacturing base, create jobs, catalyse production of renewable fuels, and drive down emissions. Working in close partnership with industry, LCIP’s programs include the Net Zero Manufacturing Initiative, Industrial Decarbonisation Initiative and Hydrogen Hubs.
The two roles will play a key part in designing and implementing innovative, high-impact initiatives that align with government priorities and deliver strong value for public investment. You’ll join a supportive team that values collaboration, cultural awareness, and making a positive impact.
The two roles are:
Project Officer - Operations
Play a key role in strengthening the branch’s operational backbone and maximising our impact. Reporting to the Senior Project Officer, your day‑to‑day may include:
- driving agile, high-quality projects across multiple initiatives, adapting quickly as priorities evolve
- leading continuous improvement projects across business processes, reporting, evaluation, and grants platforms (e.g. SmartyGrants/OneGMS), working closely with internal and external stakeholders
- coordinating governance, probity, and risk management support across the branch
- delivering clear, high-impact communications, internally and externally, including briefs, reports, status updates, and time-critical correspondence
- leading analytical, digital, and technical projects, using data and tools to enhance tracking, reporting, and decision-making
- supporting seamless coordination across the branch, strengthening systems, processes, and tools while contributing to a positive team culture.
Project Officer – Hydrogen Programs
Join the team driving NSW’s green hydrogen investment – supporting large-scale production, infrastructure and industry decarbonisation. Reporting to the Manager, you will:
- deliver strong contract management support, using systems and platforms (e.g. SmartyGrants/OneGMS) to track performance, reporting, and outcomes
- lead knowledge management across the team—developing templates and turning data into clear, actionable insights
- conduct research and analysis on technical and commercial aspects of the hydrogen and renewable fuels sector, supporting robust contractual outcomes
- coordinate procurement activities, including engaging and managing technical and commercial contractors
- prepare high-quality reports and administrative documentation to support team priorities
About You
You bring experience in program or project delivery, ideally within climate, energy, or sustainability, supported by strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. You are comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment and engaging effectively with stakeholders to deliver practical, outcomes‑focused solutions. Your understanding of how government programs support investment and participation, combined with experience in analysis, contracts, and procurement, enables you to contribute to effective, evidence‑based program delivery with integrity and impact.
Essential Requirements
- Knowledge of the operational requirements for the successful delivery of sustainability, climate change, resilience, adaptation and/or net zero emissions programs
- Project and contract management skills demonstrating the ability to deliver agreed outcomes on time, on budget, and to quality standards, and demonstrated time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands
