Lead strategic policy, programs and major initiatives on climate change, renewable energy, energy reliability and affordability, and environmental sustainability. 

 

  • Permanent full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity 
  • Office location – Parramatta; with occasionally working in Sydney CBD 
  • Clerk Grade 11/12 – salary ranges from $149,739 - $173,174 pa plus superannuation 

 

The Manager Group Governance ensures appropriate executive governance arrangements are in place within the Energy Climate Change and Sustainability (ECCS) division to oversee the range of complex and high-profile policies and programs being delivered across the group. 

 

This role will help establish more structured and strategic group governance arrangements, in addition to supporting appropriate strategic budget planning, group risk management, and stakeholder engagement frameworks. The position will report to the Executive Manager, Strategic Coordination and manage a small team. 

 

This role will work to ensure the effective delivery of government priorities and enhance accountability and efficiency across all divisions. 

 

Building on existing work this position will help identify and develop governance and reporting approaches and processes, providing performance insights and analysis that underpin effective decision making. 

 

It will take responsibility for existing processes to deliver effective and compliant budget management and risk management, identifying opportunities to drive continuous improvement.  

 

This role is instrumental in providing structures for executive governance, ensuring forums and secretariat functions support strategic oversight and accountability.

About You 

You are an experienced governance, risk, or strategy professional with a strong track record of supporting executive decision-making in complex, fast-paced environments. You bring demonstrated experience managing governance forums and secretariat functions, with the ability to deliver high-quality papers, insights, and advice that enable effective strategic oversight and accountability. 

 

You are confident leading governance and continuous improvement initiatives, strengthening processes, decision-making structures, and accountability frameworks. You bring excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with experience working closely with senior executives and central agencies to negotiate outcomes and ensure alignment across priorities. 

 

Highly organised and adaptable, you are comfortable managing competing demands and delivering high-quality outputs within tight timeframes. You exercise sound judgement and discretion when handling sensitive information and are committed to maintaining transparency, consistency, and integrity in governance and reporting practices. 

 

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic and business plans, and lead governance and risk functions in a complex regulatory or government environment. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the workings of government, governance processes and public sector administration principles. 

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in relevant field
