The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is seeking a Safety Systems and Reporting Officer to support the effective management of work health and safety systems, data and reporting across the department.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with WHS systems and data, building meaningful reports and dashboards, and translating complex information into clear insights that support better decision‑making.

About the role
In this role, you will manage and maintain the Department’s Safety Management System (SMS) and associated WHS reporting frameworks. You’ll work with multiple data sources to ensure information is accurate, consistent and fit for purpose, and develop both standard and ad‑hoc reports to support managers and stakeholders.

You’ll also analyse WHS data to identify trends, emerging risks and improvement opportunities, and provide practical advice to support WHS initiatives and projects across DCCEEW.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing and maintaining the Department’s Safety Management System, policies, procedures and tools
  • Ensuring WHS data integrity across multiple systems through validation, cleansing and governance
  • Developing and improving standard and ad‑hoc WHS reports and dashboards (Power BI, Excel)
  • Analysing WHS data to identify trends, risks, gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Providing clear, practical reporting and advice to support WHS projects and initiatives
  • Translating technical safety data into insights that stakeholders can easily understand and act on

About you
You’ll bring a blend of WHS knowledge, data smarts and strong communication skills, with experience such as:

  • Qualifications in Work Health and Safety, data analytics, information management or equivalent experience
  • Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, standards and safety management systems
  • Strong experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI and advanced Excel
  • A sharp eye for data quality, integrity and continuous improvement
  • The ability to explain complex information clearly to diverse audiences
