Join us as a Senior Policy Officer in the Nature and Natural Capital team!
Our Nature and Natural Capital team is offering an exciting opportunity to join us as a Senior Policy Officer, working on reforms under the NSW Plan for Nature. You will deliver legislative and regulatory initiatives that protect and enhance our natural environment.
As a Senior Policy Officer, you will lead policy projects, undertaking policy reviews and developing effective, evidence-based reforms. You will collaborate across the organisation to understand emerging science, operational realities and existing initiatives, ensuring policy solutions are practical, forward-thinking, and aligned with government priorities.
You will prepare high-quality policy advice and undertake analysis from research, data, and stakeholder insights to inform decision-making and policy design.
This role offers the chance to work at the forefront of environmental reform, contribute to meaningful outcomes for nature, and collaborate with passionate professionals dedicated to making a difference.
About You
You are a strategic policy professional with strong analytical skills and a proven ability to develop evidence-based solutions within complex environments. You excel at translating research and data into clear, concise advice and can confidently navigate a range of policy approaches, including regulatory and non-regulatory options. Collaborative and outcomes-focused, you contribute to strengthening policy development and evaluation while building effective stakeholder relationships.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience.

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) works to protect the state’s environment and heritage. It leads the way on climate change, driving the sustainable transition to a net zero economy, powered by affordable, reliable, and clean energy.
DCCEEW conserves and protects the state’s natural environment. It manages the NSW national park estate, including its rich and diverse biodiversity and Aboriginal cultural heritage for future generations.
DCCEEW also ensures sustainable management of water resources across the state, to support the environment, communities and industry.
We acknowledge the ongoing custodial responsibilities of the Aboriginal peoples of NSW to care for Country and water and are committed to establishing meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal peoples in the management of the environment.
