About the role

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for an Assistant Project Officer Native Title to work as part of the team and contribute towards the delivery of Aboriginal outcomes and the conservation of the natural environment.

 

You will join a small close-knit team to undertake diverse project work to support native title negotiations. This will include research, analysis, reporting, implementation and related administrative tasks to support NPWS input into Indigenous Land Use Agreements and native title negotiations. You will provide technical and communication support for the negotiation team, the Native Title Management and Policy Unit and operating branches.

 

About You

As an Assistant Project Officer you should be adept at managing competing priorities and working collaboratively with inter-connected teams, and at times across multiple organisations. Ideally, you have experienced exposure to high-volume work on large complex projects. Experience in development of clear concise communication to support presentations, change management and data research will enhance your suitability for this position.

The use of geographic information systems and spreadsheets is advantageous but not essential.

You will need to think and solve problems, at times independently and others under guidance, to deliver assigned tasks on time that may include quickly shifting priorities. You will collect, collate and report on internal and external information and maintain a register of supporting material to support negotiations.

You should possess the ability to build meaningful relationships within NPWS, Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water and interagency staff while always maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

You should have an interest in native title and genuine partnerships with Aboriginal people.

 

Essential Requirements –

  • Technical skills across broad range of systems, including word processing, excel, presentation, and geographic information systems.
  • Ability to undertake travel within NSW
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
