  • Senior Project Officer Ecosystems and Threatened Species (Environment Officer Class 9)
  • Temporary (30 June 2026) full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity with possibility of extension
  • Office location is Parramatta – other regional locations across NSW can be considered, hybrid working supported
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $124,322 to $138,494 + super

The Saving our Species team in Conservation Programs Division is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Project Officer to develop operational frameworks and provide scientific expertise to facilitate the delivery of threatened species programs.

Join a close-knit and collaborative team working to protect threatened species from extinction. Key responsibilities include contributing to the development of Saving our Species conservation strategies, project prioritisation approaches and conservation partnerships with other organisations. The team also works closely with the Strategic Policy, Science and Engagement Division to provide advice on future directions for threatened species conservation in New South Wales.

 

About You

You are passionate about threatened species and would like to bring your organisational skills and positive approach to tackling new challenges. You have a background in ecology, environmental science or natural resource management and strong communication and problem-solving skills. You are committed to conservation programs, creating great frameworks, and providing rigorous scientific guidance.

To be successful in the role, ideally you will have:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in data management with Excel
  • Experience supporting project delivery
  • Experience engaging stakeholders
