About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Senior Data Officer to work as part of the Business Delivery team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.

The Senior Data Officer oversees the collection, management and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources to identify trends, patterns and opportunities that inform strategic and operational decision-making. By translating complex data into clear, evidence-based insights, the Senior Data Officer supports improved visitor experiences, enhances organisational performance and contributes to sustainable economic outcomes.

 

About You

 

As a Senior Data Officer  you are required to have strong proficiency with building Microsoft PowerBI reports and manipulating SQL data, allowing you to analyse and interpret data to identify trends and inform strategic decision-making.

You will proactively manage and deliver research and data projects by planning work activities, coordinating stakeholders, managing procurement and contractors, monitoring timelines and budgets, and ensuring high‑quality deliverables are achieved. 

 

Knowledge and experience

  • Strong proficiency with building Microsoft Power BI reports and manipulation of SQL data for statistical analysis and reporting.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering large-scale customer research programs.
  • Experience in strategic planning and policy development.
  • Familiarity with visitor monitoring technologies.

 

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in social research, data science or related field or equivalent experience.
