  • Temporary up to 31 December full-time (35 per week), potential for extension or ongoing employment in the future

  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $149,739 to $173,174 + super

 

As Manager, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, you will provide strategic leadership to embed DEI across the department’s workforce systems, culture and practices. You will lead a specialist team to design, implement and evaluate evidence‑based initiatives that strengthen inclusion, belonging and equity across the employee lifecycle.

 

You will:

  • Lead and develop a high‑performing DEI team delivering department‑wide programs and initiatives
  • Drive systematic and structural change to advance workforce participation for diverse communities
  • Support the delivery of the department’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Action Plan in line with NSW Government priorities and legislation
  • Keep up to date with legislative and government mandates when it comes to Diversity and inclusion outcomes
  • Steward risk, complexity and sensitivity through discretion and ethical leadership
  • Partner closely with Senior Executive leaders, People and Culture experts, and Employee Resource Groups and key stakeholders
  • Provide authoritative advice to senior executives on DEI risks, opportunities and emerging issues
  • Use workforce data and insights to measure impact, inform decision‑making and demonstrate outcomes
  • Build strong partnerships across government, industry and the inclusion sector to share best practice and deliver social impact

 

About you

 

You are a confident, credible DEI leader who can influence at senior levels and translate strategy into practical, measurable outcomes. You bring strong stakeholder management skills, sound judgement, and the ability to navigate complexity and sensitive issues with integrity.

 

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated experience designing, delivering diversity and measuring impact of equity and inclusion programs in large or complex organisations
  • Strong knowledge of DEI legislation, frameworks and contemporary best practice
  • Proven experience leading teams, delivering results and building strong partnership and relationships internally and externally to the department
  • Excellent collaboration, influencing and communication skills
  • Experience analysing workforce data and translating insights into action

 

We are also particularly interested in candidates who bring social impact experience, including:

  • Experience working with, designing programs for, or partnering with diverse and under‑represented communities
  • A strong understanding of the social, cultural and systemic barriers faced by different communities
  • Experience delivering initiatives that create measurable social and inclusion outcomes beyond the organisation

 

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in human resources, organisational development, social sciences or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel overnight as required
