At the heart of the New South Wales (NSW) planning system, the Planning Group takes centre stage. Driven by the NSW Government’s unwavering commitment to tackling the critical housing issue, we provide essential support and strategic guidance.

 

The Role

 

The Planning Officer Policy role supports the NSW planning system for State significant projects through amendments to various State Environmental Planning Policies and other relevant planning legislation. It also assists with the ongoing maintenance of operational assessment policies, tools and processes relating to the development assessment process for State significant development and State significant infrastructure. The focus is on providing high quality support and guidance for development assessment teams to help them provide assessment advice that is strong, fair and quick.

 

You will provide clear and accurate advice and support materials to help ensure best practice in the planning policy and assessment of State significant projects for internal and external stakeholders and conduct research and analysis, including the collation and management of data and information to identify issues and suggest a range of options and solutions to achieve planning program commitments.

 

The role also helps to drive best practice and innovation to meet Government goals for a more robust and efficient state planning system that achieves strategic infrastructure, economic and growth objectives.

You will bring demonstrated knowledge of relevant planning and environmental legislation and processes.

 

A tertiary degree qualification or other equivalent qualification and willingness to travel and Class C Driver’s Licence for regional positions (essential).
