The role
In the Media and Communications Manager role, you will:
- Lead the delivery of communications and media initiatives that support the rollout of planning policy, infrastructure, and housing programs across NSW.
- Lead go-to market campaigns across a variety of channels
- Shape how the Department engages with the public, media, and stakeholders through compelling storytelling, proactive media advice, and integrated campaign delivery.
- Manage messaging across digital platforms, ensuring consistency, clarity, and alignment with government priorities.
- Navigate sensitive issues and tight deadlines with confidence.
- Provide stakeholders with trusted leadership and strategic direction, in a fast-paced environment.

What you will bring to the role
- Ability to craft clear, compelling narratives across traditional and digital channels—including EDMs, social media, and web.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience advising senior executives and working closely with Ministerial offices.
- Confidence in managing media enquiries and engaging with journalists under tight deadlines.
- Skill at balancing competing priorities while leading high-performing teams
- A strategic mindset with the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver high-impact communications in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative leadership style that supports team development and drives continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to be on call, as required, outside of normal working hours.
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, media, journalism, or related discipline and/or relevant extensive experience.
