We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated policy professional to join the Energy Transition and Enabling Policy (ETEP) team. The ETEP team has a unique function within the Climate Change and Strategy Division, proactively identifying policy gaps and issues and developing strategic recommendations to support the timely delivery of critical renewable energy infrastructure and improved outcomes for impacted communities.
The team leads a broad range of diverse workstreams, providing strategic advice on emerging system risks and whole-of-government issues (including the impacts of data centres on the grid), strengthening social licence and maximising benefits for regional NSW and host communities, and working across agencies and jurisdictions to align national reforms with NSW priorities.
The TEP team is seeking someone with technical energy market or power systems expertise, engineering, or planning reform experience, preferably in the energy, infrastructure or logistics sectors. Strategic policy analysis and reform experience will also be highly regarded.

About You
Ideally you demonstrate strong technical capability and experience in the energy sector, and a working familiarity with the NSW planning system in the context of energy and/or large-scale infrastructure projects.
You have sharp analytical skills, sound judgement and a proactive mindset, with the ability to translate complex technical, market and regulatory issues into clear, actionable advice for senior decision-makers.
Highly organised and resilient under pressure, you excel at research to build a strong evidence base, and in managing competing priorities, coordinating cross-agency projects and delivering outcomes within tight timeframes. You take a collaborative, delivery-focused approach, working autonomously where required to problem-solve and drive initiatives forward.
You build trusted relationships, engage effectively with stakeholders across government, industry and the community, and thrive in roles that require influence, adaptability and strategic thinking.
