  • Based in Sydney CBD, & Hybrid working from home and office supported
  • Salary ranges from $173,121 to $191,993 plus super and leave loading

 

EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity to the people of NSW as coal-fired power stations near closure.


About the Opportunity

EnergyCo is seeking an accomplished senior leader to join the organisation as Corporate Secretary, providing authoritative leadership across Board governance, executive advisory and secretariat functions.

This is a pivotal, enterprise-wide role that operates at the intersection of governance, strategy and delivery. Reporting to the Chief Finance and Operations Officer, the Corporate Secretary is a trusted adviser to the EnergyCo Board and its committees and the Chief Executive Officer, enabling high-quality decision-making and ensuring that governance arrangements support EnergyCo’s strategic objectives and statutory responsibilities.

As Corporate Secretary, you will:

  • Act as the principal governance adviser to the Board and Board committees, providing strategic, independent advice on governance, policy alignment and decision‑making
  • Lead and modernise EnergyCo’s Board and committee secretariat functions, ensuring agendas, papers and processes are strategically focused, well‑governed and outcome‑oriented.
  • Serve as a critical conduit between the Board, Executive Leadership Team, Government stakeholders and the Department, translating Board intent into policy, programs and organisational action.
  • Enable effective governance across EnergyCo by ensuring strong alignment between Board oversight, committee assurance and operational delivery.

About You

You are a proven executive with deep experience operating at Board level in complex, regulated or public‑interest environments. You bring:

  • Demonstrated leadership in governance, strategy, policy or corporate advisory roles
  • Exceptional judgement, discretion and the ability to influence at the most senior levels
  • Strong understanding of government decision‑making and statutory governance frameworks
  • The credibility to act as a trusted adviser to Chairs, Non‑Executive Directors and executives

This role will appeal to senior leaders who can influence at the centre of strategy, governance and impact — and who are motivated by enabling high‑quality decisions that shape long‑term outcomes.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Experience leading a team and working with and managing Chairs, Boards and Committees, including developing and contributing to work plans, coordinating reports, preparing and editing high quality written material, such as responses to Ministerial and Executive correspondence, reports, briefings and speeches. 
  • Tertiary qualification in a policy or relevant discipline and/or demonstrated equivalent experience.

Who we are? 

The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory corporation established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and governed by its Board, appointed by the Minister for Energy.  EnergyCo is a Staff Agency employing all EnergyCo staff and is an agency related to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

EnergyCo plays a pivotal role in the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, which aims to transform the state’s electricity system into one that is cheap, clean, and reliable. As Infrastructure Planner under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020, EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of the State’s first five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and the first two priority transmission infrastructure projects (PTIPs), which are located in the Central-West Orana, New England, South West, Hunter-Central Coast, and Illawarra regions. We work closely with communities, investors, and industry to investigate, plan, recommend and coordinate generation, storage and network infrastructure projects.
