The Development Coordination Authority (DCA) has been established as part of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure as the authoritative NSW Government source of technical input across the planning system. The Authority brings together a deep, multi-disciplinary capability inside the planning department — specialists in natural hazards, environment, heritage, water, transport and other disciplines — and delivers it to decision makers to help shape development outcomes across NSW.

Joining the DCA presents a unique opportunity to help build and embed a new model for delivering technical input into the planning system, working alongside DCA's specialists to provide coordinated expert advice and decisions that shape housing, infrastructure and sustainable communities across the State.

The role

This role manages low- to moderate-complexity referrals — integrated development, concurrence and consultation — for development applications across NSW, in one of DCA's four regional RC&A teams. Working alongside DCA's technical experts, the role learns NSW Government input across many disciplines and prepares draft consolidated responses for senior sign-off. It also supports senior officers on more complex matters.

The role identifies gaps or inconsistencies in the input it receives, drafts responses that reflect a clear position, and escalates where senior input is needed. It manages communication with councils and applicants throughout the assessment process, and contributes to ongoing improvements in how the service operates.

DCA's four regional RC&A teams align to the Local Planning and Council Support (LPCS) regions: Central, West and South; North, East and Central Coast; Hunter and Northern; and Southern, Western and Macarthur.
