About the role
Make your mark where it matters. National Parks and Wildlife Service is offering a unique opportunity for an Assistant Project Officer to support projects that protect and enhance our natural environment, native flora and fauna, and Aboriginal heritage.
In this role, you’ll be at the centre of project delivery—providing hands-on support across research, analysis, reporting and coordination. You’ll track progress against plans, keep documentation sharp and compliant, and help ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to a high standard. Your ability to gather insights and contribute to project briefs will support informed, evidence-based decisions.
Working collaboratively with stakeholders, you’ll keep communication flowing, provide updates on progress and help resolve implementation challenges. You’ll also play a key role behind the scenes, coordinating meetings and preparing materials that keep projects moving.
If you’re organised, proactive and ready to build your project skills in a role with real impact, this is your chance to contribute to something bigger.
About You
You’re organised, proactive and ready to build your project skills in a role that delivers real impact.
This role will offer variety and the opportunity to develop into a subject matter expert within our Fire Trail Fire Access Capital Program Upgrades. You'll support the delivery of field-based and office-based project activities. This will include assisting with site inspections, collecting and recording field data, helping to develop scopes of work, and contributing to environmental assessments such as Reviews of Environmental Factors (REFs) and Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessments (ACHAs). You'll also support procurement processes, contract administration, stakeholder engagement, coordination of site inductions, quality assurance activities and project close‑out and evaluation tasks.
You’re detail-oriented, reliable and collaborative, with the ability to adapt and get things done in a dynamic environment. Most importantly, you’re motivated to contribute to work that makes a meaningful difference.
