The role
This role will work on complex policy projects that shape the government’s response to climate change and drive delivery of the NSW Government’s net‑zero targets through a new Net Zero Plan. It involves analysing emerging issues and working with internal and external stakeholders to develop evidence‑based policy options. Success depends on navigating a fast‑moving planning system, balancing diverse stakeholder expectations, and translating complex technical material into clear, accessible language.

What you will bring to the role

• Experience working in planning, sustainability or climate change‑related roles, ideally with exposure to net zero, emissions reduction or similar policy projects
• The ability to research, analyse and interpret complex and technical planning and climate change information, and translate this into practical policy actions
• Confidence engaging and working with a broad range of stakeholders across government, industry and community, building constructive relationships and solving problems collaboratively
• Skilled communicator with the ability to present complex technical information in plain English
• Comfortable managing competing priorities in a high‑volume, fast‑moving environment

What is an essential requirement:

• Degree qualification in public policy, planning, law, economics, ecology, environmental science or other relevant discipline.
