About the role

NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service (NPWS) is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Officer to provide diverse project management to support our Reserve Access Program.  The Reserve Access Program focuses on ensuring the retention of legal access to NPWS managed land and maximising opportunities to secure practical access to reserves through the creation of easements over existing tracks.

 

Working closely with the Project Officer and Team Leader, Reserve Assess Program, you will assist with the research and negotiation of easements for access to national parks.  A typical day could include:

  • Undertaking data entry and business processes associated with the Reserve Access Program including the use of spatial information systems to assess legal and practical access to NPWS managed land.
  • Undertaking finance and procurement activities to assist in the operation of the Reserve Access Program
  • Assessing and responding to Crown and Council road closures, perpetual lease and western lands lease conversions and Aboriginal Land Claim referrals.
  • Creating files and undertaking searches.
  • Undertaking conveyancing support functions relating to the registration of easements for access.

 

About You

This role is suited to self-starters with the ability to work both independently as well as part of a team. You will also need:

  • an ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • ability to negotiate effectively with stakeholders and influence outcomes.
  • a sound understanding of land tenure.
  • good spatial GIS skills.

 

Essential Role Requirements

  • Experience in the provision of administrative and support services
  • Experience in development and delivery of programs and projects.
  • Understanding of contemporary project management principles and practices
