About the role
An exciting opportunity exists to join our National Parks team.  You will be responsible for providing visitor information and outstanding customer service at our Khancoban Visitor Centre.  Responsibilities include processing bookings, collection and reconciliation of park entry fees and retail/merchandise sales. This role is casual and includes working weekends, public holidays and peak periods such as school holidays and long weekends.

 

About You
To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Experience in providing quality and courteous customer service in a professional manner; often dealing with simultaneous demands; requiring sound time management and the ability to be flexible, particularly during high visitation times.
  • Having worked in retail or hospitality previously, working directly with customers and supporting/resolving their queries with an ability to problem solve and enjoy building a rapport.
  • Good communication skills to engage with customers, stakeholders, volunteers and staff across multiple Teams and deliver accurate concise information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and to make decisions using initiative and within agreed procedures and policies.
  • Demonstrate good cash handling skills and point of sale transaction experience.

 

Essential requirements 

  • A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is an essential requirement for this role.  The role has been identified as requiring a check in keeping with the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012.
  • Understanding of and a commitment to the aims of the National Parks & Wildlife Service, including a sound appreciation of natural and cultural heritage conservation issues.
  • Experience in cash handling procedures, stock control and ordering.
  • Experience in computers and using word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Current drivers licence.

This role may involve weekend work. This is a shift based role, under the Crown Employees (Conditions of Employment) Public Service Award.
