EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity and to upgrade the electricity network to power our state now and for the next generation.
About the Opportunity
EnergyCo is entering an exciting phase where it is delivering multiple projects in parallel, building talent and capabilities and working with its Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap partners to keep the lights on for NSW. The Chief Operations Officer sits at the heart of EnergyCo and will be pivotal in leading the enterprise achieve its outcomes. The Chief Operations Officer works alongside the projects teams and plays a strategic role in their lifecycle.
The Chief Operations Officer leads, directs and coordinates the organisation’s centralised functions including finance, risk and governance, procurement, health and safety, parliamentary and ministerial services, and information technology, along with related operational activities. The role serves as a key advisor and agent of the Chief Executive Officer, partnering with senior executives to provide expert guidance and ensure the effective delivery of these functions. In doing so, the Chief Operations Officer establishes organisation wide standards and governance frameworks that support compliance and enable the achievement of business and policy objectives. As a core member of the EnergyCo Executive Leadership Team, the role provides strategic leadership to strengthen organisational performance, ensuring EnergyCo operates as a high performing, integrated NSW government agency, while fostering a strong, values-aligned culture.
About You
You are a highly experienced senior executive with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams across multiple centralised functions within complex, fast-paced environments. You bring exceptional stakeholder management capabilities, coupled with outstanding communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to influence and deliver positive business outcomes across the organisation.
You have significant experience leading through change—ideally within an infrastructure delivery context—while successfully driving business-critical initiatives. You excel in dynamic environments and thrive on managing multiple, competing priorities with agility and focus.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant qualifications in business, finance/accounting, business statistics, or similar discipline are essential.
- CPA/CA qualifications would be highly regarded.

Who we are?
The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory corporation established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and governed by its Board, appointed by the Minister for Energy. EnergyCo is a Staff Agency employing all EnergyCo staff and is an agency related to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).
EnergyCo plays a pivotal role in the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, which aims to transform the state’s electricity system into one that is cheap, clean, and reliable. As Infrastructure Planner under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020, EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of the State’s first five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and the first two priority transmission infrastructure projects (PTIPs), which are located in the Central-West Orana, New England, South West, Hunter-Central Coast, and Illawarra regions. We work closely with communities, investors, and industry to investigate, plan, recommend and coordinate generation, storage and network infrastructure projects.
