About the roles
Join our friendly Visitor Experience team in one of NSW’s top-performing national park visitor centres, located in the spectacular Sea Acres and Dorrigo National Parks. You’ll lead engaging tours and activities, share your knowledge of the park’s unique wildlife and landscapes, and help visitors understand why protecting this special environment matters. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys the outdoors, loves connecting with people, and can work flexible hours including weekends, public holidays and school holidays. Most Discovery tours run from March to November.
About You
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Specific knowledge, or a willingness to learn, about the Australian bush, and to provide educational experiences on your tours regarding your knowledge base.
- Some experience tour guiding or facilitating a group.
- Demonstrated ability to ensure the optimal safety of tour participants and children consistent with the risks associated with exposure to the natural environment.
- Able to demonstrate a high standard of providing visitor experience in ensuring that educational activities are appropriate to the audience.
- Able to maintain a professionalism through tidy attire, punctuality, and effective communication to uphold a prominent and professional image for NPWS.
Essential Requirements
- A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) is an essential requirement for this role. The role has been identified as requiring this check in line with the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012.
- First Aid Certificate and Current Australian Drivers Licence, or willingness to obtain.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekdays, weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering interpretative guiding and/or educational programs to students or groups.
- Awareness of Aboriginal culture and broad knowledge of the natural and historic heritage values of the local area.
- Sound understanding of Risk Management, Minimal Impact and Bush Safety principles in relation to guided tours in a cultural or field setting.
