About the role

As a Senior Team Leader, you will lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary team responsible for integrating biodiversity considerations into regional planning. You will drive the delivery of biodiversity certification and provide expert advice on complex planning and environmental assessment issues, ensuring alignment with legislative frameworks and government priorities.

This is a highly visible role where you will collaborate with government agencies, industry and community stakeholders to address environmental challenges and influence policy and planning outcomes. You will represent the organisation in strategic forums, prepare high-level advice and briefings for senior executives and the Minister, and navigate complex and often sensitive issues to deliver balanced, practical solutions.

We’re looking for a strong and resilient leader with deep expertise in environmental planning, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to lead teams through complexity, change and competing priorities.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful environmental outcomes while leading impactful work that supports sustainable development and biodiversity conservation across NSW.

About You

We are seeking a confident and experienced leader who will lead a team to deliver front-loading nature and biodiversity considerations in regional planning with a focus on biodiversity certification, and a passion for delivering sustainable biodiversity outcomes. You will be a strategic thinker who can navigate complex legislative and policy environments, while providing clear, evidence-based advice on challenging and often sensitive issues.

You will have a proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders, and influence outcomes across government, industry and the community. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise advice for senior executives and decision-makers.

Resilient and adaptable, you thrive in fast-paced environments with competing priorities and are comfortable managing change, ambiguity and high-profile work. Most importantly, you are motivated to make a meaningful impact by contributing to balanced, practical solutions that support biodiversity conservation and sustainable development across NSW.
