  • Senior Manager Delivery (Environment Officer Class 14).
  • Ongoing full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity.
  • Location is flexible; however, preference will be given to candidates based in Sydney or within the Murray–Darling Basin region. This role involves frequent travel.
  • Standard office attendance applies (minimum three days per week).
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $173,121 to $191,993 + super.

 

Our Water for the Environment team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Manager Delivery to lead and manage the delivery of environmental water across NSW to achieve ecological and cultural outcomes across multiple catchments.

This role is responsible for overseeing on-ground watering operations, ensuring delivery is safe, compliant, adaptive, and supported by strong local partnerships and effective operational planning. It has end-to-end accountability for the operational delivery of environmental water across NSW.

The position leads a large, multidisciplinary team responsible for:

  • operational water delivery across NSW
  • engagement with Environmental Water Advisory Groups (EWAGs)
  • participating in ecological monitoring, evaluation and reporting (MER) activities
  • contributing to policy and strategy development within the Water for the Environment program
  • First Nations engagement and partnerships
  • Landholder engagement and community outreach.

The role also plays a key leadership function in fostering and managing relationships with partner agencies across NSW and the Commonwealth, as well as broader stakeholders.

About You

You are a collaborative and adaptable professional who thrives in dynamic environments and can effectively navigate change. As this is a newly established team, you bring strong organisational and strategic capabilities, with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage complex workloads.

You will play an active role within the leadership team, contributing to broader branch priorities and identifying opportunities to add value across the function. You are confident representing the team in inter-agency and inter-jurisdictional forums and building effective internal and external relationships.

You will also demonstrate experience or capability across a range of areas, including:

  • budget and resource management
  • workplace health and safety oversight
  • training, mentoring and capability uplift
  • project and workload management
  • stakeholder and internal relationship management.

You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, supporting senior leadership and contributing to the ongoing development and success of a growing team.

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as environmental science, ecology, natural resource management, environmental engineering and/or equivalent experience.
